Also, it’s the one-year anniversary of the Deadline Dames. It’s somewhat paradoxical, because it seems like just yesterday Devon Monk asked me if I’d want to be part of a group blog; and because it feels like I’ve known the Dames forever. They’re constant strength and support, they forgive me my scatterbrain and my little foibles (including my habit of getting very freaking foulmouthed) and they are, in short, too awesome for me to tell you about all their awesomeness without renting out a skywriter or a full-page ad in some ridiculously expensive newspaper. I am proud to be a Dame. Seriously, you don’t even know.
Since I’ve just returned from my first highly unpleasant tasks of the day (everything’s gone smoothly so far) I will content myself with a giveaway and some news in lieu of a Friday writing post. Frankly, I’m tired. This has been a bushwhacking week.
So. To celebrate the anniversary of the kickass, utterly fantastic Dames, I’m doing a giveaway out of Japhrimel’s Corner. Yes, I’m giving away two coffee mugs out of the little corner of the web that honors the demon even Lucifer can’t keep down. (I really need to get some new products in there…let’s just add that to my to-do list. AUGH.)

Even though I don’t write UF or paranormal, I have found many, many snippets of writing advice very helpful. So much so I try and visit every day. I’ve not quite yet managed to read novels from every dame, but I’m working my way through.
I love the genre you ladies write about. It’s exciting and always keeps me coming back for more.

I am an infrequent lurker, and even less frequent commenter, but what I really like about the Dames is the no nonsense, slightly rough (at times) around the edges approach into their daily lives.

I’ve been enjoying your novels ever since Working For the Devil came out. I have the paperback with the original covers of Working for The Devil and Dean Man Rising. I have to confess that I like those covers better than the newer covers.
I’ve started on your Jill Kismet series (though I’m a little behind on them) and have been enjoying them.
I think, though that of your most recent works, (excluding Danny Valentine’s story) I like Dru’s stories the best. Strange Angels was a heart pumper, (weird phrase – it made my heart beat faster?) and Betrayals was a great follow-up. I can’t wait to read Jealousies.
I’ve been introducing your books to anyone who will listen to me.

What I love about the Dames is that I read all of their work and adore it!! I also want to be a published writer someday soon and I love all the advice that they give on the writing career. The process of getting to that end of being published. It is all very helpful and encouraging and I eat it up!
Has it been that long already? There are a lot of great posts on this blog, and it’s fun to hear the ‘real’ voice of authors I’ve been reading.

This site has been a massive help to me these past few months. It makes a big difference hearing advice on writing and the publishing world coming from such a personal point of view. Before I found the Dames I guess I thought of Writers as a different species to me, supremely confident people who wrote astounding novels in one draft. I just absolutely love the deadline dames! I read majority of the authors here and it’s nice to be able to come to DD and catch up with the upcoming books! I also just wanted to say thank you for writing them-I know you all write for yourselves as much as for the readers, but it’s wonderful to be able to pick up one of your books and take a step out of reality for a time. I just discovered this site a few days ago, but so far I’ve enjoyed all the posts I’ve read.
I love the Dames because they’ve taught me so much about their art and what it means to them. Without you I would still just be reading about characters in a book and not understand that there’s an author under the cover.
I love the Dames because they are great authors who don’t mind sharing their secrets with others. I also love that they let us into their lives, so we can see that many authors are just like us.
