Dame for a Day-Moira Rogers

Dame Rinda

I’m THRILLED to welcome the writing duo of Bree and Donna who together make up the prolific Moira Rogers! I’m new to the online publishing world and they welcomed me with open arms, answered newby questions and along the way, I’m happy to say we became friends. And I’m so excited about their new post apocalyptic series! If you don’t already, follow them on Twitter just for their own conversations alone. (Addresses at end of post. ) And they are giving away an e-copy of Hammer Down to one lucky commenter!

Welcome!

Bree: Thank you, Rinda, for inviting us today! It’s given me and Donna an opportunity to get a deep, dark secret off our chests. I know we’ll feel better once we confess.

Donna: Junkies! We’re total junkies.

Bree: Addicts of the worst kind. We have a serious craving and we just can’t get enough. But our drug of choice is…a bit odd.

Donna: History Channel. Biography. Food Network. The Discovery Channel. Even Planet Green! I can’t stop.

Bree: I am addicted to reality television. Only not necessarily the kind that’s about contests and conflict and putting people in extraordinary circumstances. I like the reality television about our world as it is, or was, or could be. It’s like a neverending buffet for my imagination.

Donna: I think those are called documentaries, Bree. I like those, but I’ll take a good reality show too. Swamp People! Celebrity Cook-Off! I could go on and on.

Bree: And we can’t forget the jobs. Fishing for lobster, crab, shrimp or swordfish, or driving trucks in crazy conditions. Or just the jobs that are downright dirty. Dirty Jobs, anyone?

Donna: Okay, time out. Dirty Jobs has something else going for it besides scintillating programming. We should own that up front.

Bree: …okay, okay. I stand corrected. Mike Rowe, anyone?

Donna: No, no–Mike Rowe, EVERYONE. …what were we talking about, again?

Bree: All of the shows Mike Rowe narrates? I mean, even if you haven’t seen him on Dirty Jobs, you’ve heard him on…well, damn near half of the shows on the Discovery Channel. I can’t begin to say how many of my plot ideas have started with Mike Rowe’s voice dropping some interesting fact about How the Universe Works or what it’s like to fish for the Deadliest Catch.

Donna: Too bad Ice Road Truckers airs on History and can’t benefit from Rowe’s enviable baritone, because then it truly would be the circle of life.

Bree: Ice Road Truckers may not have Mike Rowe’s voice, but it still held plenty of inspiration for us.

Donna: Mostly because we wondered, “How crazy do you have to be to do that job?” And that, naturally, led to wondering how crazy one would have to be to do it not on the ice, but surrounded by flying demons who think humans are tasty. Er, or something like that.

Bree: Demons ruling the Earth was the premise for our Children of the Undying series, and while I can’t blame the demons on the Discovery Channel, I’m going to blame the History Channel’s Cities of the Underworld for my fascination with lost worlds hidden underground–and how people might be able to retreat into some of these underground worlds in the event of an unfortunate apocalypse.

Donna: Mmm, yes. Apocalypses. So we definitely have to blame their series Life After People too. How can you resist the visuals they come up with? It’s a spec-fic writer’s dream. “Hell yeah–let’s go tear down half a city and cover the rest with vegetation and wild animals!”

Bree: And after watching a few episodes of Dual Survival you’ll have all sorts of ideas about what to do with those vegetation covered sections of the city…if your hero and heroine have a tarp and a pocket knife, they’ll make it for weeks!

Donna: And with hopefully at least as much sexual tension as Dave & Cody share on that show! Wait, did I say too much?

Bree: Confession is good for the soul.

Donna: So are books with hot half-demon heroes and heroines who’ll beat you down with tire irons if you cross them. Ahem.

Bree: And now you know how our shameful addiction to reality television turned a sweet paranormal romance idea into an epic apocalyptic quest for survival with truck-driving mercenaries, underground civilizations, and a slightly different take on how the universe works.

Donna: And don’t forget the smoked salmon and goat cheese omelets. (Thanks for that one, Food Network.)

Hammer Down is a post-apocalyptic paranormal romance about a truck-driving mercenary heroine and a half-demon battle-hardened hero finding love and hope after the end of the world. • I once lost half an hour at work following a Twitter conversation between Bree and Donna. Well, it wasn’t just between the two of them. Others were involved as well. Did I say “once?” because it has happened…well, let’s just say more than once. ;)

  • SandyG265:

    I haven’t read a book featuring a truck driver.

  • That sounds like a good read. Love post apocalyptic books.

  • I love Bree and Donna – they crack me up! And I’d add Scott McGillivray from HGTV’s Income Property as nice eyecandy. He’s goodlooking AND handy with tools! Nice…

  • Warning: If you start reading Moira Rogers books you might get addicted.
Not that I am complaining! :D

  • *waves madly* Hello girls!!! (Don’t enter me cause I have Hammer Down and loved it.)

Mike Rowe IS awesome, and I too love his voice. Now that I think about it– I could picture him as a werewolf in one of your books….Hot Dang!

I always knew you gals were geeks, so your confessions are no surprise to me:)

  • I’m definitely gonna need to watch more Discovery Channel now. :)

  • Pamk:

Love their books and am definetly looking forward to reading this one.

  • Keith Melton:

    They *are* junkies.

    True story:

Donna once stabbed me in the hand with a screw driver because I “borrowed” (lost) the remote during Shark Week and the TV was stuck on Jersey Shore the entire time I was storm chasing in Alabama.

I still have the scars, emotional and physical. O_O

Anyway, you can’t go wrong with a Moira Rogers book. The Bloodhounds, the werewolves and shifters…good stuff. Check it out. Just beware the remote! Don’t touch it! :O

  • Irene:

Ooh, sounds like a really good read! :)

  • CrystalGB:
